Something hot from Lenovo?

They may be on to something here.

need power?

How cool is this? Ever get stuck without a battery in a pinch? Digging for a battery or two while the others are recharging? Coming soon in cell phone, laptop, and 9 volt configuration.
Certainly not a replacement for actual rechargeable batteries, but I can certainly see the utility of them.  A spare [...]

audio blogging

Right now I’m sitting in my van driving north on Sprinkle Road about to get on Interstate 94 to visit my parents.  I’m taking the girls to visit the grandparents and to give Diane a break for awhile.  The really interesting thing about this entry is I’m not actually typing it.
I picked [...]

Greasemonkey and Gmail

If you are using Firefox and Gmail, I recommend checking out Greasemonkey (via Lifehacker).  There’s a short video there showing the power of the Greasemonkey in managing and organizing Gmail.  I’ve installed the various scripts and immediately became a convert.
While you’re there, don’t miss the link for AutoHotKey scripting.

Computer Tips

Frequently, I’m surprised when I have a chance to watch other people using their computers. I mostly run across Windows users, so you Mac people sit down for a few minutes.
By no means am I a useability expert, but I thought I’d pass along some tips that seem to make my life easier.
The Quick [...]

Dell Caters To Open Source

Want to buy a Dell without Windows, thus saving a few bucks?  Dell makes it possible.  I can’t say I’m a huge fan of Dell hardware, but their prices seem good.

Drool

If your heart doesn’t beat a little faster, you aren’t a geek.

The 1 TB Barrier…

…has been crossed. $399!

Building A Bridge With Walls

This week, I have been participating in meetings between my employer, a major pharmaceutical manufacturer, and an agency of the Federal Government. These meetings are routine, occurring from time to time.
In the course of the meeting, our guest wished to print a single page from a PDF file on a CD-ROM in her possession. [...]

Samsung is touting their new AMOLED screens. How does 12 mm thick sound to you?

Internet Explorer 7 Released

Follow the links to go get a copy, if you are so inclined.  I’m probably going to stick with Firefox.

The Shuttle And The Sun

A very cool picture on Drudge today.  Make sure to click for the enlargement.

Firefox Beta 2

The latest Beta for Firefox is out, and I’ve been using it for a day or so. Gotta say it is going to be hard to go back to IE if work ever locks out Firefox (rumored to happen).
Things about Firefox I love (and aren’t just part of the Beta):
1. Tabbed Browsing. Instead [...]

We Need It For Research ...And Stuff

Employees are thinking twice about working for companies that restrict net access.
Microsoft says that many employers need to free up their Internet access policies in order to appear more attractive to potential hires. That’s the message coming from the Microsoft Tech.Ed 2006 conference in Sydney, where Microsoft Senior Design Anthropologist Anne Kirah recently spoke. Kirah [...]

Windows LiveWriter

Scanning through my RSS feeds this morning, I discovered this post from Paul Stamatiou regarding Windows LiveWriter.
I’m using it to compose this post as a test, and so far, I like the application.  The WordPress admin panel is functional, but it has always had some bugs that have annoyed me.  With this, I seem to [...]

A Terabyte

I admit I haven’t been paying attention, since my digital storage needs are in order at the moment, but when did we break the 1 Terabyte mark for consumer products?

Nice…

Augmented Reality

And it isn’t a Google product!  Presenting Microsoft Photosynth.

If You Punch The Monkey Again, I'll Kill You!

Professionally, computers and software are not my job. As a hobby, I go a lot of tinkering, but I am by no means a guru. I consider myself more advanced than the average user, and probably a little ahead of the sophisticated user. I’m certainly not a guy who can tear down [...]
