    Is there as much gratuitous slo-mo in the actual movie as in all the trailers? Also, is one not a “real man” if one does not love this movie and want it to be the mother of its children?

    The hype is really sickening, and I can’t figure out why. This isn’t noble, beautiful, or even coherent. What is up with the “hyper-realism” I hear this movie makes use of? To me it is “hyper-fake” and “hyper-gratuitous.” It isn’t real the way, say, HBO’s Rome manages to be and yet still be engrossing. “300″ is _not_ historical fiction. It is simply fiction, and not good fiction at that.

    Of course maybe I could be wrong. Perhaps an impassioned defense of “300″ can persuade me to give this film some money.
