Hawks Need Not Apply
We won’t know what Pelosi will do until she actually does it, but we’re starting to get an idea of how she’s going to move forward.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi plans to sideline colleagues who are hawkish on national security in the Democratic leadership in the House.
Democratic Party sources said as House Speaker, Ms. Pelosi plans to block moves that would place hawks into important chairmanships. The sources said a key casualty would be Rep. Jane Harman, a six-term member of Congress who has cooperated with Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee.
This would suggest the impeached Alcee Hastings is up for the post, as I had mentioned yesterday.
Beyond the Intelligence Committee, I’m wondering what incentive this posture gives to King Joe to make nice and caucus with the Democrats? Looks like she doesn’t want ‘his kind’ around.
