Horrible News

Europe, and the West, has lost a treasure.

MILAN (Reuters) – Oriana Fallaci, one of Italy’s best-known journalists and war correspondents who shocked the literary world with a vitriolic assault on Islam after the September 11 attacks on the United States, died on Friday aged 77. Fallaci died in her home town of Florence after battling cancer for several years, a hospital official said.

Figures Reuters would use the word ‘vitriolic’ when Fallaci’s two books, The Rage and The Pride and The Force of Reason were simply honest, forthright responses to the Islamification of Fallaci’s Europe, without the usual PC blandness.

I wish more Europeans were as clear spoken as Ms. Fallaci. She will be missed.

Update – My short reviews of Ms. Fallaci’s books can be found here.
