Amateur Megalomania

I’ve long been fascinated by Chinese.  In my work past, I was fortunate to work closely with two Taiwanese ladies who were gracious in trying to help me stagger through the kindergarten basics of the language.

I never could quite shake the impression that they were just making stuff up to have a laugh at my expense.  I began to believe that Chinese wasn’t really a language, and that Chinese speakers only spoke like that when Westerner’s were around.  In private, I bet they all spoke English or something else.

This article confirms my impression that Chinese is a bit ridiculous.
