Concerned Muslims

From the AP -

News of a thwarted plot to down trans-Atlantic airliners sent a shiver of anxiety through Britain’s Muslim community Thursday.

Nice to hear.  The British Muslim community is anxious that we found yet another group of Muslims plotting mass murder.  Right?  That would seem to be a natural reaction from a peace-loving group of people.  I know if a bunch of secular humanists had been caught plotting to slaughter Christians, I’d be pretty appalled about my set of beliefs motivating violence.

Maybe I should have stopped reading right there.

Muslim men accustomed to nervous looks from passers-by after last year’s transit bombings noticed they were attracting them again. Some said they worried about a spike in hate crimes and job discrimination.

Ah, it isn’t the mass-murder, it is the discrimination.

“I know five of the men very well and they are really respectable young Muslim men,” Qadir added. “I am totally shocked. I don’t believe they’ve done anything to warrant this.”

Monirul Sardar, 33, a Briton of Bangladeshi origin who runs an east London travel agency, said he’d noticed his bushy beard drawing stares after every major terror attack in recent years.

“It’s started up again,” he said. “People are afraid of me, mostly. … If it’s an old man, a lady in a hijab (head covering), they’ll pick on them.”

Like, they’ll pick on them for no reason at all.  I can’t imagine why anyone would even pause at the sight of a head scarf or an Islamic appearance.  Certainly there isn’t a single reason for such attention.

Unlike those shifty Mennonites.

Harris Bokhari, a spokesman for the Muslim Association of Britain, said the group was asking mosques to urge worshippers to report any racial attacks.

Maybe they’ll get around to reporting Islamic attacks on the dirty kuffars.  (Now, to be fair, early reports indicated the bomb plot was tipped off by a Muslim woman.  If so, all I can say is hallelujah and please bring more of that sort of thing.  More on that as I read about it.)
