The Reliable Media UPDATED Again
August 6th, 2006 | by Todd W |Reuters gets caught posting a Photoshop picture of the ‘damage’ caused by them Joos in Beirut. Sad story here.
As you read through the link, you’ll find that the photo was submitted by a ’stringer’ - an independent submitting news on the ground reports to Reuters. In this case, one Adnan Hajj. This goes on a lot, and it is the responsibility of Reuters to review these reports before passing them on to the public.
So one slipped through? I can buy that.
However, as of 9:24 AM on Sunday, the photo is still on the Reuters site.
How many other ‘fake’ news items make their way to publication? I’m just asking.
UPDATE - Allah has more.
ANOTHER UPDATE - Speaking of LGF and Reuters, here’s some older, but relevant, news.
Also, Reuters has pulled the photo and suspended the photographer. Follow the comments below for linkage. Chimpy might want to call Reuters and tell them they are making a mistake.
YET ANOTHER UPDATE - Chimpy has been carpetbombing the Blogosphere with the comment he left here. Protein Wisdom has it verbatim. A little more searching reveals he’s been banned in the past at LGF. He’s welcome to stick around here and comment though - I’ll be glad to take LGF’s trash.
