Moderate Muslim Chased Out – UPDATED
While the world continues to think that Islam is being held hostage to the Tiny Minority of Extremists, an actual member of the minority has been cowed by death threats over his blashpemy. You know, like suggesting homosexuals shoud not be buried in the ground and have walls toppled on their heads? Or suggesting sharia law shouldn’t reign in Canada. Or that mosques should be places of worship, not politics.
Horrible things like that.
Tarek Fatah, the outspoken, controversial communications director of the Muslim Canadian Congress, has resigned, citing concerns for his safety and that of his family.
Mr. Fatah said he will also resign from the MCC’s board, severing all official ties with the organization he helped found.
“It’s not just for me. It’s for my wife and my daughters,” he said in an interview.
The West can’t change Islam. It’s going to be up to men like Tarek Fatah. Only Muslims can enact the needed reforms from within. Our role is to support men like this, give them their own satellite channels, and do all that we can to broadcast alternative Islam to the Muslim world.
Allowing these few moderate to be driven underground just brings us a step closer to the day when the West will have to take extreme action to protect itself.
UPDATE – Just when I go praising a moderate muslim, I find this on LGF.
Tarek Fatah, communications director of the MCC said, “It is ironic that Muslim extremists are portraying themselves as anti-imperialist, when in fact Al-Qaeda and the Taliban are nothing more but a creation of the CIA.”
Just a different form of crazy. At least he isn’t sawing off heads, I guess.

All I have to say is that we all know this sort of thing happens and some of us have experienced similiar situations. The most important thing is that you grow from the negative experiences that impact us and move on. We can all imagine or strive for any type of future but as creatures bound by the physics of this universe we live in the present. Don’t let our imaginations get the better of ourselves regardless of the outcomes we imagine. Ultimately fear is the enemy we must all face and that fear is a product of our minds imagination stimulated by the events of the present. As a great speaker once said “You have nothing to fear but fear itself.” take the time to think before you react until it becomes a habit. Perhaps then people will learn to live together and not against each other.
Sure, we have nothing to fear but fear itself. Fear, and maybe apocalyptic delusional messianic nuclear-seeking Muslims who happen to be in charge of Iran.
But mostly fear.

Rational precaution is not fear. People who live at cross purposes cannot ever live together. I want to live. Sharia law wants me dead. Ergo, we can never live together no matter how learned I become.
