Our Friends The Pakistanis
I don’t subscribe to the ‘enemy of my enemy is my friend’ theory, not when our so-called ‘friend’ is a breeding ground for militant Islam and the source of a lot of the problems in that part of the world. Now our friends are ramping up nuke production.
Pakistan appears to have embarked on a dramatic expansion of its nuclear arsenal with the construction of a new heavy water reactor capable of producing enough plutonium for up to 50 warheads a year, according to a report released yesterday by a US thinktank.
This technology will become more and more available as the years pass. We can’t stop proliferation. That ship has sailed.
So what are we going to do about confronting cultures that would think nothing of Fedex-ing a nuke in a highly deniable fashion? While we’re trying to assemble a chain of evidence to satisfy a court of law, they’re slapping together another package.
Tell me again why we shouldn’t be overly worried?
