State Sponsored Piracy
June 30th, 2006 | by Todd W |French lawmakers approve ‘iTunes law’ - Yahoo! News
The French have passed a law forcing Apple to make the iPod and downloaded iTunes compatible with rival mp3 players. Never mind that Apple’s DRM scheme would be compromised, leaving purchased music even more vulnerable to casual copying. (Yeah, I know the DRM can be bypassed now, but only with technical know-how and effort - something that stops 80% of people from doing it).
I’m glad to see the French government occupying themselves with important issues while their unemployment stands north of 10%, their streets are consumed by immigrant gangs, and businesses continue to flee a culture that seems intent on destroying free enterprise (such as it remains over there).
Sad.
