Score A Big One For The Good Guys

Zarqawi is dead.

May you rot in hell, you unspeakable bastard.
Insert Palestinian-style Schadenfrued dance for a moment, just to get it out of my system.

….

OK…what does this mean. Well, the first thing that comes to mind is: “I wonder if we made a mistake making him into a martyr.” But then I get all warm and happy and can properly enjoy this killing. There is a rather small and exlusive club of people who are actually in need of immediate death. It is nice when we can strike one from the rolls.

Will this change anything in Iraq? Hard to say. Certainly it won’t suddenly turn into Detroit. However, there is a nugget in this CNN report that gives me some hope about the immediate future.

[Gen. George Casey] said al-Zarqawi and a key lieutenant, spiritual advisor Sheik Abd-Al-Rahman, were at an isolated safe house at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
Tips and intelligence from Iraqi senior leaders from his network led forces to al-Zarqawi and some of his associates who were conducting a meeting approximately eight kilometers north of Baquba when the airstrike was launched.

Zarqawi was sold out by his own people. Tell me that isn’t important.

Let’s see if somone competent steps in and fills Zarqawi’s shoes. That candidate will speak volumes about the bench depth of the barbarians.
