UN Hits Bottom, Starts Digging

The UN elected the new Human Rights Council today. Sounds like a noble idea.

How would you summarize the main objectives of the Human Rights Council?

The Council will serve as the main United Nations forum for dialogue and cooperation on human rights. Its focus will be to help member states meet their human rights obligations through dialogue, capacity building, and technical assistance. The Council will also make recommendations to the General Assembly for further development of international law in the field of human rights.

Excellent. Given all of the human rights abuses in nations such as China, Cuba, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, it is good to see such an organization devoted to encouraging the aforementioned nations to reform.

Until you realize that those nations were ELECTED to the council today.

Yeah. Elected.

Here is the list of elected nations. Gateway Pundit has a useful breakdown of each regime here.

13 Partly Free
9 Not Free

Thankfully, the United States declined to be a member of this travesty.

Now if we could have the same approach to the UN as a whole…
