Barely Blogging
Yeah, I know.
Things haven’t been good. While we came out of the accident in pretty decent shape, it has seemed to be a month of struggle here. We’ve been really busy with various appointments for the kids, and we are in the middle of trying to rebuild the house. Between restoring the previously flooded basement, stripping wallpaper (a pox on the previous owners) from one of the bathrooms, and other general, but much needed, repairs, we’ve been swamped.
And it hasn’t helped to be going through hell-month at work. While I have been known to occasionally post an entry from my desk, the sheer amount of work and associated stress has been draining whatever energy I might have to even mentally compose posts for writing later on. By the time I get home in the evening, I just don’t have the energy.
But I want to continue with this. This past September marked the second full year of blogging, and I enjoy it.
But there are certainly elements I dread.
I’m probably going to get a ton of flack for this, but I’m going to shut down comments for awhile. I’m tired of the flame wars. I’m tired of the lack of debate, replaced by pettiness. I think I’ve figured out that the debate element that I really wanted in this space simply isn’t going to happen in a coherent, useful way.
So I’m done with comments, at least for awhile. Yeah, some will want to cry about censoring opinion or whatever. Okay. You can get your own blog on blogspot in about ten seconds, and it is free. I’ll even link to you if you like. Go for it. If you are really burning to say something to me, I’m at wileytd at charter dot net. You’re all invited to send whatever you like.
And maybe some of it will appear here. Who knows. Maybe I’ll be inspired to open up the public comments.
Steve and Mark will still have their Hockey posts or the Solarium thing (which I was really looking forward to, but I of all people understand how busy people get). If the Solarium wants to keep going, I’ll turn comments on for that. No problem.
So, that being said, I’m going to try to get back to filling the space with my unwanted opinion. I’m going to be bashing the hell out of the President for a series of horrid, appalling decisions, and I’ll continue to tear at the media for thier unabashed efforts to undermine everything we are trying to accomplish in the Middle East.

Housekeeping issues – you might have noted the addition of the ‘What I’m Reading’ tab, and yeah, there is a bit of a formatting problem. I’m working on it. I like books, and I like to talk about books. So I like to post what I’m reading. I might even talk about it.
So, there it is.
