Getting Nailed
Well, damn.
We woke up this morning intending to take Reagan to her hearing screen. (We think she may have some ear blockages that will require tubes…at least that is the best scenario). The four of us piled into the van and headed to the doctor.
Picture a typical drive through moderate traffic, and then a traffic light switches from green to yellow. Diane brings the van to a stop, and then I recall watching my McDonald’s Iced Mocha flying through the air. The van seemed to levitate off the pavement and turn, followed by a large crunching boom.
When everything stopped moving, we were in the intersection with a totalled Pontiac Bonneville parked under our van.
Diane moved the van through the intersection into a parking lot, and we jumped out to check on the two kids. I now can attest to the efficacy of child car seats. Both girls were scared but otherwise unhurt.
Fortunately everyone is essentially okay, even the other guy. As luck would have it, a police officer was in the next lane and saw the whole thing happen. The other driver was cited.
So I am waiting on a rental car to show up, and the van has been towed to a repair shop. It is fixable, but the other guy’s car is annihilated. This is the seoond accident we’ve been involved with in a Dodge, and both times they’ve taken the shot and protected the occupant.
My back is killing me, but that isn’t surprising.

Wow, did the guy rear end you? What was his excuse?
Yes he rear ended us. He said he wasn’t paying attention. You would think with a cop right next to your car you would pay extra attention to what you are doing.
When did this happen?
I hope you go see a doc about your back pain, and $ue the bastard who rear-ended you.
Also, I sympathize with you and Reagan’s suffering over ear problems. I, too was a victim of infant ear-tubing. Not that I recall it but it must not have been fun for anyone involved. But on the bright side, look how well I turned out. Reagan should be glad to be following in my footsteps!
