I've got to think that the characters will look back and think it was worth it. Granted, I don't know them well as I'm new to the series, but this was BIG STUFF and my impression was that the decision to head out to that planet through Reaver space and (even more) to head back with the intent to broadcast were huge decisions for these guys. They weren't made on a whim and they knew what they were getting into, even though everyone will always think "I might" survive even the worst circumstances.

I must concur with Todd's admonition to avoid other reviews (except for mine!) like the plague until you have seen both Firefly and Serenity. Unless of course you are a shallow, worthless human being - in which case go ahead and read all spoilers and refuse to see the film or the series.

I knew Todd would love this movie. I knew it in my soul after I saw it myself. It has the perfect Todd-ending. Well, not quite as good as Arlington Road but prett close. What makes it better is that people are still alive at the end to appear in (hopefully) many many sequels. Yet they are not the same as they were when the movie, or the series, began. This is what fiction is all about. This is what I want to experience, to share, and some day perhaps participate in creating. This is not my review, ut some initial thoughts on the film. Writing a review will not be easy, and I think it needs time to mature in my mind, and a second viewing to better absorb the content of the film. Watch both Todd and my website for reviews of Serenity.

In the mean time, go buy Firefly on DVD and watch it all. Only by doing so can you decide if you are worthy to watch Serenity.
