Eason Jordan

Of course, I came late to this party, but I do have some thoughts about it.

First, when the story broke, my reaction was a bit muted. After all, the idea that Jordan would think the US military would intentionally kill journalists in a war zone isn’t really a surprise to me. It’s simply more confirmation that the High Priests of the MSM are exactly what they are, and this requires little more comment than noting that a rattlesnake has a predisposition to be unpleasant. After all, Jordan is the same guy that allowed Saddam’s regime to influence what was reported out of Iraq, just so CNN could maintain access while all other western media outlets were tossed out.

But the fact that Jordan felt emboldened enough to utter his ‘soldiers love killing journalist’ idea while speaking to a large gathering of people, as well as in front of a rolling camera, speaks to the general cluelessness and hubris of the MSM in the age of the Blog.

And the hubris continues. I admit to being mostly in a news blackout last week, but I should clarify that by ‘news’, I mean ‘blogs’. I did see a lot of CNN and Network News (God help me), but it wasn’t until Sunday afternoon that I glimpsed at the Godfather in a moment of weakness, only to see that Jordan had resigned on Friday afternoon.

!!!

Not a word on the normal outlets viewed by the teeming masses of unaware non-blog people. I don’t know if I should laugh at the cluelessness or admire the inhuman discipline on display here. First Rather went down in flames, now Jordan quietly packs up, yet still they don’t talk about it. If two high profile commanders of a campaigning army were felled by obvious external, yet mysterious, forces, I would expect that army to pause and take stock of the circumstances and source of these blows. Yet the MSM maintains formation and whistles their way past the festering corpses. Nothing to see here.

It’s beyond belief to think the MSM is so obtuse as to not internally debate what’s going on here. But my previous understanding of ‘obtuse’ has broadened considerably over the past year. The old adage about arguing with someone who buys ink by the barrel seems to lose power in the Blog age.

Yet the MSM dresses the line and marches on…

UPDATE – RightPundit had almost the same experience.
