An update on the copyright issue.

I had a great conversation last night with a member of our writer’s group regarding the whole copyright issue. As I had mentioned in a previous post, she is writing an article to spot light the BookCrossing site, and she wanted to speak to a few members of the writer’s group to get our opinions.

While I can’t go into the conversation in depth at the moment (I do have some other things to do this morning), we did cover almost all of the copyright issues we’ve discussed here over the past few months. I honestly hadn’t planned on going into it, since it’s easy to come across as a lunatic, and I wasn’t sure she would even be interested in the nuances of a Book as a Media Device (I know there are times I wonder why I am interested). Before I knew it, I was hip-deep in the discussion, and launching into my new pet issue.

Overall, it was well received, and I really enjoyed the resulting discussion. I don’t expect a lot of it to show up in the story, since her space is limited and my topic is really a sideshow, but I still had a good time. I also sent her a link to this blog in case she might have any interest, so be on your best behavior, cretins.

Not sure I’ll get many actual news posts up today, since I’m still battling the crashing computer, and IT will be taking it away from me at some point for repairs. So until later….
